Water leak protection
A leak sensor detects water, Optimaatti closes the main valve and raises an alarm. The valve reopens only after you acknowledge it.
How to set it up
- Connect a water leak sensor and a relay or cover device that drives the main shut-off valve.
- Create a Water leak protection zone in the web Automations section and pick the sensors + valve.
- Done — on a leak the valve closes automatically and you get an alarm.
Safety
Prefer a spring-return or a separate close relay so the valve closes even during a power outage. Leak protection complements, and does not replace, other property monitoring and insurance.

Connect the devices
Connect the leak sensor and the valve device to Optimaatti.
- The leak sensor (for example a BTHome-compatible leak sensor) appears under sensors once connected.
- The Shelly relay or cover device that drives the main valve is added as a normal device.

Create a protection zone
Automations → Water leak protection → Add zone.
- Give the zone a name, for example "Main valve".
- Pick the valve device and the close method for your hardware (relay off = closed, a separate close relay, or cover).
- Pick one or more leak sensors that trigger the shut-off.

Leak event and acknowledgement
On a leak the valve closes and you get an alarm.
- The valve stays closed until you acknowledge the alarm — it does not reopen on its own even if the sensor dries.
- Acknowledge in the web or mobile app; if the sensor is still wet, you are asked to confirm before reopening.
- If closing the valve fails, you get an escalated alarm on all channels — shut the main valve manually.
