Set up Tuya devices

This page shows the easiest way to connect a Tuya or Smart Life account to Optimaatti and bring your devices in without unnecessary setup pain.

Fast path to success

  1. First make sure the devices already appear in the Tuya or Smart Life app under the same account.
  2. Open Settings -> Integrations in Optimaatti.
  3. Create or select your Tuya integration account and press Connect or Reconnect.
  4. On the Tuya page that opens, sign in with the same account that already has your devices.
  5. Choose the devices you want to share and accept the authorization.
  6. Return to Optimaatti and press Sync.
  7. Check that the integration is active and the devices appear in the list.

Before you start

You only need these

  • -A Tuya or Smart Life account where the devices already appear.
  • -Access to the Optimaatti app.
  • -One browser or phone where you finish the full connection flow in the same session.

The most important thing to remember

Always use the same Tuya or Smart Life account that already contains the devices. The most common mistake is signing in with the wrong account.

You do not need to enter MQTT settings manually for Tuya devices. The Tuya path works through the integration flow, not through manual MQTT setup.

How to connect the account in Optimaatti

Steps inside Optimaatti

  1. Open Settings -> Integrations in the app.
  2. Choose Tuya and create a new integration account if needed.
  3. Press Connect or Reconnect.
  4. Wait until the browser or app redirects you to the Tuya authorization page.

Steps on the Tuya page

  1. Sign in with the same Tuya or Smart Life account that already has your devices.
  2. Choose the home or environment you want to share.
  3. Select the devices you want to share.
  4. Accept the authorization and let the page redirect you back to Optimaatti.
Complete the entire connection flow in the same browser tab. If you switch tabs in the middle, authorization may fail.

How to make the devices appear

The final step is Sync

After you return to Optimaatti, the devices usually do not appear immediately before synchronization.

  1. Go back to the Tuya integration view.
  2. Press Sync.
  3. Wait a moment and check that the account becomes active.
  4. Open the device list and confirm the devices are there.

How do you know it worked?

  • -The integration status shows as active.
  • -Devices appear in the list without an error.
  • -You can name the devices clearly and continue using them in Optimaatti.

Most common problems

The Tuya page says it cannot find matching user information

This usually means the sign-in was done with a different account than the one that contains the devices.

  • -Sign out from the Tuya or Smart Life page.
  • -Start Reconnect again.
  • -Sign in with the correct account.
  • -Confirm that the devices already appear in that same Tuya or Smart Life account.

Authorization worked but no devices appear after Sync

The most common reason is that the devices were not selected for sharing during authorization.

  • -Press Reconnect again.
  • -Select the devices again on the Tuya page.
  • -Return and run Sync one more time.

The connection fails in the middle of the process

A common cause is starting the process in one tab and trying to finish it in another.

Do Connect or Reconnect from start to finish in the same browser tab or the same phone view.
